Velos Rides for Sunday 1st December 2019

Sunday rides

Looks like it will be dry and a little chilly for our Sunday excursions so we might need an extra layer or two.

9am start, 55 miles

10am start, 41 miles

10am start, 23 miles

As always, please bring a copy of your chosen route with you either electronically on your GPS gadget, or go old school using the analogue method : a bit of paper. We depart from the Rose and Crown in Ivinghoe at the times stated above.

Xmas drinks

This year our Xmas drinks will be on Friday the 13th at the Rose and Crown. It will be a chance to see if you can recognise your fellow rider with their clothes on. Additionally, and depending on how the General Election in the 12th goes, you may be drowning your sorrows or celebrating the success of your chosen party.

Ivinghoe Velos Rides for Sunday 24th November

This week we have additional optional rides for anyone wanting hills hills and more hills. We have a route covering 42 miles with over 3,500 feet of climbing, tackling (nearly) every slope in Berkhamsted for this ride arrive at 9am with this route plan:

If you fancy some of the hills with 2,700 feet of climbing try this 32 mile 10am option:

Usual ride options which have less climbing, so lending themselves to tight group riding without the waiting on hill tops, are as follows…..

9am 55 miles through Redbourn, via Duststable Downs and out to Cublington

10am 37 miles through Redbourn, via Dunstable Downs and out to Great Billington:

With Christmas creeping up quickly we would like to propose that Friday 13th December is our social gathering at the Rose & Crown for drinks and comparing cycling Christmas wish lists. It will be a bit like post ride Sundays without the slightly damp Lycra. It’s a casual “drop in when you can” occasion so feel free to organise your own food options at the pub if crisps is not enough to meet your culinary needs.

Velos Rides for Sunday 17th November 2019

This Sunday

Looks like it will be dry for our rides tomorrow but with a little bit of a chill in the air.

9am ride, 52 miles

10am ride, 37 miles

10am ride, 26 miles

As always, please bring a copy of your chosen route with you. We depart from the Rose and Crown in Ivinghoe at the times stated above.

Next Sunday

We have something very different planned for next Sunday as an option. The bearded one of the Two Daves has plotted a FAB route that takes in as many hills around Berko as possible. It will be 43 miles long and includes a whopping 3,650 feet of climb. Fear not though, there is no time limit so sprinting uphill is not needed. More details will follow in next week’s post.

Velos Rides for Sunday 10th November 2019

Our rides this week include a stop at St Mary’s Church in Ivinghoe at 11am so that we can join our local community to commemorate the contribution made by our  service men and women over the years. It would be great if those who have a Ivinghoe Velos top wore it on the ride.

9am start, 51 miles

10am start, 39 miles

10am start, 30 miles

Many thanks to the Daves for planning the routes this week.

Ivinghoe Velos Rides for Sunday 03/11/2019

This Sunday rides head towards the Bletchley area. Three routes to choose from, 27, 40 or 51 miles. As the road conditions are deteriorating at this time of year a check of your brakes and tires plus the addition of mudguards are recommended. Sunday is predicted to be the better conditions of the weekend. Riding in a supportive group will get you further and riding faster than going solo, so join one of our groups and go well.

Next week we will aim to pause our rides so we can observe remembrance Sunday as a group.
