Gentlemans Time Trial info
The Cog cycling cafe in Tring is running a Gentlemans time trial next Sunday 27th October. It sounds like a lovely friendly event, and Simon from the cafe would be delighted to see a Vinghoe Velos team – or two? The details are in the attached flyer.

Teams of five are needed, and it’s the time of the fourth person back that counts so it’s an interesting team challenge.
It might be a good idea for anyone interested to use the Velos Facebook page to find other interested people. I think that you need to sign up fairly quickly.
Good Luck!
Rule #60 // Ditch the washer-nut and valve-stem cap
So as the hardy tea riders prepare for their next adventure and piece of cake its is time to look to tomorrow. Whilst again the weather isn’t looking over promising we aim to head to Chesham past Dave and Sam’s country pad! (Thanks to Mr Bembridge for putting this one together)
Come what may there will be a 13.5 mph average speed ride, any volunteers to lead it out? Others may of course choose to head off up them hills at a more spritely pace than Newton’s laws of gravity will allow some of us ‘cranky’ older ones!!
As always meeting at the Rose and Crown on Sunday at 0945 for a 1000 start, ALL WELCOME 🙂
Saturday 10 am Tea Ride
Join us at 10 am outside the Rose and Crown for a lovely Autumnal cycle ride. We do a lovely easy pace, so very suitable for new riders. We are usually back by 12.
See you there

Velos Ride for Sunday 13th October 2013
This week we have another marvellous route from Mr Bembridge . It is 33 miles in length and takes us to Great Missenden and back. As usual, we gather from 9:45am and depart at 10.
For anyone concerned about the not particularly favourable weather forecast for Sunday, we would like to remind you that rule # 9 applies.
And now for a little song….
All things bright & beautiful
All Bicycles great & small
All Cyclists wise or wonderful
The Tea Ride welcomes you all.
Each little turn of pedal,
Each little squeal of brakes,
Just a tiny bit of bravery
Is really all it takes.
The rich man in his castle,
The poor man at his gate,
We wave to them as we pass them by
And cycle past their estate.
The towering Ivinghoe Beacon,
Whistle Brook running by,
The sunset and the morning,
That brightens up the sky.
The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The Tea Shops & the Cafes
We will visit every one!
The Rose & Crown, Ivinghoe,
Is where we meet to play,
Be ready to leave at 10am,
On every Saturday.
We all have smiles to greet you,
And lips that we might tell,
How great the Vinghoe Velos are,
And the Tea Ride is just swell!
It has been claimed that Cecil Francis Alexander wrote her “All things Bright and Beautiful” whilst staying at the Govilon manor house and inspired by her surroundings. The Tea Ride reckons she couldn’t read her map and was actually somewhere near Vinghoe……..
Countryside to cycle through. Whatever your bike.
Velos Ride for Sunday 6th October 2013
The Ride this Sunday takes on a 28 mile loop via Chartridge. As always, we assemble from 9:45am for a 10am start.
We would like to wish Jack and Andy Beezer the best for their race tomorrow up the Beacon.
Saturday 10am Tea Ride
Meet at the Rose and Crown at 10am for more tea, cake and adventure- with a little bit of cycling too.
See you there.
