Ivinghoe Velos Rides For Sunday 2nd August 2026

Three routes to enjoy on Sunday, thanks to Dave for the 10.30 offering and Richard for the the 10am route. All routes this week begin from outside the church in Ivinghoe, Regulars, old friends and newbies are all welcome.

Being the first Sunday of the month, the longer ride has a coffee stop planned in. This time it’s Monkey Puzzle in Thame, with a back up option of Orchard View near Owlswick. Both have large outdoor spaces which should be the order of the day on Sunday. Last Sunday the longer ride split into two pace groups which worked well while the number of riders was realtively high, so we go again again this week unless this leave one pace option short of the group ride feel. There is some shared pathways on the route, so slow down and ring your bell!

The 10am route is slightly longer that previous weeks, in response to requests for a bit more time on the bike , while the 10.30 ride sticks to the short but sweet opportunity to get out and ride. This week it’s a 21 mile loop to Hastoe. Whichever route you do there is an opportunity to refuel post ride as all routes finish back where we started close to The Rose and Crown.

Ivinghoe Velos Rides For Sunday 12th July 2026

Perfect riding conditions expected on Sunday, apart from the possibility of a few hangovers or late night recovery with the England V Norway world cup match potentially ending around 1am

I have canvassed opinions from those who ride early, and as absolultely expected everyone has a different idea, so I have come up with a cunning plan which aims to please everyone (you can’t please all the people all the time?)

The 9am route will leave Ivinghoe church at 9am for a 15 mile loop to Home Ground cafe where it will stop for a cuppa before setting off again at 10.30am for the rest of the ride, This means riders can join the whole ride, do their own thing and join for a coffee, or just ride to Home Ground for a 10.30 start. The ride will then head North for a further 35 miles before arriving at the Rose and Crown for a celebratory (it’s coming home) pint.

If these shenanigans are too much for you then the usual, far easier to understand, 10am and 10.30am route provided by Dave and Richard will be avaialble from the church, following on with the good cop bad/cop flat/hills routine Dave’s 10.30 ride has the least climbing this week. While Richard’s 33 miles has the most climbing per mile of the three routes.

9am It’s coming home (the ride is anyway) 50 miles, (or 35 miles from Home Ground at 10.30) https://ridewithgps.com/routes/56027477

10am https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55695722 The route heads out through Ashley Green to Flaunden before dropping to the River Chess. After passing through Chesham, there is a climb back up to St Leonards and then finally over Pitstone Hill.

Ivinghoe Velos Routes For Sunday 5th July 2026

Three routes to chose from this Sunday, are we already in July? Blink and you’ll miss summer, so get out and ride your bike with one of our groups. Thanks to Pete, Richard and Dave for providing this weeks routes, all rides depart from the church in Ivinghoe

9am https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55927409 Sunday’s long ride has something for everyone, assuming you have a bike and some legs. After a relaxed warm up we take in the lesser-visited Aston and Whiteleaf Hills before heading back towards home. But keep some energy in reserve because there’s a Strava segment challenge near the end (search “Ledburn to Cheddington”) https://www.strava.com/segments/20982382 that a certain rider has her eye on. Will you be her super-domestique and lead her to glory or will you go against team orders and launch your own attack? The only way to find out is to turn up and ride.

10am https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55809120 33 miles and 1,000 ft climb. Out to the flat lands beyond Stoke Mandeville with a return over Halton Hill to mix it up a bit:

10.30am https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55773784 Up over the beacon and around to Pedley Hill if you’d like a bit more climbing
