Yes after a highly succesful ride last week the Grumpy Old Men (&Women!) series continues with a ride this week taking you to Woburn for coffee! Meeting at 1000 on Wednesday 22nd at Pitstone Roundabout for a 46 miles spin!
ALL WELCOME
The ‘two ride’ format seems to be working so we will be continuing that this week.
The Long Route takes us to Stewkley and Soulbury covering just under 30 miles.
Our more reasonable mileage route this week covers 15 miles and heads towards Champneys. The reward for doing this route is a nice fast finish down the Beacon.
As always, please bring a copy of your chosen route with you, either on your GPS device or printed out. We meet from 9:45am at the Rose & Crown, Ivinghoe with an intention to depart at 10am.
It’s Dave’s birthday, and he’ll ride where he wants to
Ride where he wants to, ride where he wants to
You can come too – we’d like to see you
Nobody knows where the tea ride will go
We always leave at the same time
Why don’t you all come along?
We’ll ride if it’s wet or it’s fine!
It’s Dave’s birthday, and he’ll ride where he wants to
Ride where he wants to, ride where he wants to
You can come too – it’s a fun thing to do
Chat with our friends, keep pedalling a- while
We will not leave you behind
When we reach our birthday tea stop
We’ve got a reason to smile
It’s Dave’s birthday, and he’ll ride where he wants to
Ride where he wants to, ride where he wants to
You can come too – any bike will do
The Vinghoe Velos just walked through that door
Like a court with their King
Oh what a birthday surprise
Dave thinks they’re all going to sing!
It’s Dave’s birthday, and he’ll ride where he wants to
Ride where he wants to, ride where he wants to
You can come too – any bike will do….
So, Dave will ride where he wants to – and he’s even given us a route in advance!
Leaving the Rose & Crown at 10am, come and join the birthday banter!
(Lesley Gore reached number 1 in the charts with “It’s my Party” in 1963)
Dave Bembridge will be heading out with others for a 40 mile ride tomorrow (Tuesday 14th) at 1000 from Pitstone Roundabout. ALL welcome as he promises there is a coffee and cake stop halfway round 🙂
So another year is underway and many of us face a low calorie and alcohol free January, but that means we also need to find ourselves a new cycling challenge or two! Will it be a wine tasting cycling marathon in Italy, a relay of Alps climbs or your first century ride?whatever it may be we can just say “Courage!”.
However in our search for new ideas we came across this one…
Ingredients:
Yes it takes all kinds!!!!!
So on to the Sunday rides, thanks to Andy Beezer for a very interesting and in places challenging ride circumnavigating Aylesbury last week and yet again thanks to Dave Bembridge for sending in the following routes for tomorrow.
‘Mount the Bison’ a 29 mile route taking in Bison Hill for those not wishing to tackle Bison Hill here is a detoured route of 20 miles cutting out Bison Hill and some other climbing
As always please feel free to send in your ideas for routes or at least give us an idea of where you would like to ride to next week!
