Ride – Sunday 22nd August 2010

Hi all!

In Gary’s absence please find attached the rides for this week, meeting at 10.00 am as normal, you will note that I have avoided water this time!!

The last 3 weeks we have had 15 riders each Sunday and it would be good if, despite Gary and the Beezers being on holidays we could achieve a similar number, so PLEASE try and introduce a friend to the (I)Vinghoe Veloes and drag them along with you. Another new and even brighter (better fitting too!) cycling jersey will be on display 🙂 modeled by yours truly and in the hope it will scare off the wasps!

Remember we have set this club up to be a social ‘low key’ ride and it would be good if everyone could take their turn to accompany and encourage the ‘slower’ riders and more importantly that we all take responsibility for our fellow riders safety! The last couple of weeks we have managed to get ‘lost’ on a few occasions so it would be good if we could all take 10 mins to study the routes! Sorry to those of you that have those thingamejigs I cannot work out how to download the GPS co-ordinates for the rides 🙁

WE do not have any greater right over the road than those pesky motorists so lest extend to them the courtesy we expect from them.

Short Route – 14 miles

Long Route – 23 miles

Hope to see you all on Sunday

Andrew and Jose

Ride – Sunday 15th August 2010

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please find below the rides for this Sunday. As usual there is one long and one shorter route. If you take a look at the maps there is a URL, which will if you tap into your machines, allow those of you with GPS to down load the co-ordinates to your diddly watsits.

This will be my last ride until September as I shall be on my Hols, so Andrew and Jose have volunteered to take the handlebars after this Sunday. If you have any rides during this time that you would like to do, please let them know.

Short Ride – 16 miles

Long Ride – 22 miles

Thanks

Gary

Ride – Sunday 8th August 2010

Hi Folks

Apologies for the late notice, but for your delectation and delight we have two rides. Having completed the mighty hastoe last weekend I have come up with a less challenging route for this week, however, those of you astute map followers will notice that we are leaving the village to climb up to the beacon, this is the only significant hill on both routes.

Usual meeting time of 10am, everyone welcome.

short route – 15 miles

long route – 21 miles

See you Sunday!

Gary

Ride – Sunday 1st August 2010

Hi Folks,

For those that are looking forward to this weekends ride, yet again we have two routes on offer. As before both followa similar route for the initial stages taking in the local villages of Gubblecote and Puttenham before we divide for the mighty Hastoe Hill climb. With the exception of this climb all other elements only have moderate climbs that should be suitable for all. The shorter route is around 14 miles, and the longer just under 21 miles.  As with last week we shall be starting at the Rose and Crown around 10.00 am. Everyone is again welcome, including friends that are not on the email list.

Long Route

Short Route

See you Sunday

Gary

Inaugural Ride

Ok fellow athletes,

The time has come to squeeze those finely honed bodies into some of that stretchy cycling gear. After almost a year of working out at the Rose and Crown velodrome, and several minutes planning a route we are now ready for the first ride out.

Dust of the cobwebs from your Raleigh Chopper, oil up the grifter, grease your gear shifters on the Arena and head off to the start point………..Yep the Rose and Crown!

We have selected two routes for this weeks jaunt, both based on Mark Webbers Ride to the Horns from the stag. I haven’t invited Mark because frankly we don’t want to embarrass him, he tends to get quite upset when he doesn’t win. For those that feel like a shorter less hilly route a short cut has been included. Maps for both routes are attached, easy rider being the short one.

Now I believe that there may be a few of us who have not been out for a while so I would like a few volunteers that are prepared to offer support through out the ride, so that we can keep small groups together, and ensure we stay safe in the traffic. I will be happy to make sure no one gets left out, and Jose has also volunteered. Please let me know if your up for it.

A couple more serious points before I log off for some refreshment, HELMETS! Some Drinks, we will be out for a couple of hours so make sure you’ve got enough. Puncture kits, tubes etc. Don’t go and buy them if you don’t have any , I’m sure we can  pool enough for a get you home emergency.

I will be at the start for 9.30, so if anyone needs assistance with repairs, tyres etc please come along and I’ll be happy to assist.

We will aim to depart by 10.00 and return for around 12.00

Alistair has assured me that all beers and wines available on Sunday will be isotonic!

Please feel free to invite any additional friends.

We look forward to seeing you all Sunday.
