Velos rides for Sunday June 11th 2017

Two rides on offer this week, both crafted by Mr Howe. They follow parts of the TourDeVale ride so it is likely that there will be a fair few people out on the road with us.

9am start, 60 miles

10am start, 37 miles

As always, please do bring a copy of your chosen route with you. We depart from the Rose and Crown in Ivinghoe at the times stated above.

Velos rides for Sunday June 4th 2017

Numbers will be a bit lower this week as some of our team are doing the Tour of Cambridge so please do bring a copy of your chosen route with you.

9am start, 54 miles

10am start, 37 miles

10am start, 26 miles

As usual, we assemble at the Rose and Crown in Ivinghoe and depart at the times stated above.

Below are details of the Mr Dave Bembridge’s Canal Ride on Sunday 18th June. Please talk to Dave if you need any more details.

We are planning to catch the 8.35 am from Tring Station to Euston. Short ride to Paddington Basin. Various stopping points along the way but there is a small cafe about halfway by Rickmansworth lock which does a Bacon Sandwich or Cheesey Chips. We will of course be stopping at the Rising Sun in Berkhamsted as it would be very rude not too.

On a serious note if there is a large group on the train we need to make sure we split up along the carriages and maybe more than one group on the tow path.

Final stop is of course the Rose and Crown.

Route will follow shortly but if you have water on one side of you there’s a good chance your going the right way. Just follow the tide.

Tea Time!

So tomorrow, the Tea Ride is going to swing it’s way around Tring…. Through Castlemead, Marshcroft Lane, Tring crossroads, Tring Triangle, past the Cemetery, through the village with the farm where sledges were used instead of carts (Local Historical Fact.  This is because it’s on the side of a hill and carts didn’t work well) and to Buckland Church for Bacon Butties.  Coming home, we will Womble through Wilstone, Leg it along Lukes Lane and mooch our way back through Marsworth.

Leaving the Rose & Crown at 10am

Three routes to choose from this week.

9am start, 52 miles

10am start, 20 miles

As always, please bring a copy of your chosen route with you. We ride in groups and rely on each person being aware of the cyclist behind them. Tea Tour at Ten & Velos Kit Order

Leaving the R&C at 10am tomorrow at  Tea ride pace, we shall be trundling around Tring – through Castlemead, Marshcroft Lane, Mortimer Hill,  Tring crossroads, along the back of the Tring Triangle, Miswell Lane, Windmill Way through to Ash Road, Little Tring, via Tringford and to the garden centre at Bulbourne for tea & cake.  From there, onto the Canal at the Junction Arms to Bluebells and over the humps to home.  This will give a nice, about as flat as you can get round here, 20 miles at a leisurely pace.

Those wishing to go further (back via Albury & Pitstone Hill maybe?) or faster, please form a separate group.

Velos rides for Sunday April 30th 2017, Velos Kit & Doug’s Funeral

Three rides again this week and it is looking likely that we will miss the rain forecast now for the late afternoon on Sunday.

9am start, 54 miles

10am start, 31 miles

10am start, 15 miles

The Rose & Crown has re-opened and Mick the new owner will be more than happy to assist with any re-hydrating beverages that we might like to purchase after the ride.

Please bring a copy of your chosen route with you in your chosen format. We aim to cycle together in groups of similar paced riders. To help with that, please keep an eye on the rider behind you and be prepared to call to the riders in front if a gap appears. That way the speed can be regulated and no one gets left behind.

Once again this week there will be a Tuesday road ride at 6:30pm and a Thursday off-road ride at 7:30pm. Both start from the roundabout in the centre of Pitstone.

Velos Kit
There is sufficient interest so we will be opening a new kit order this week.  Details will be on the Rear Hub on Facebook during the week and on next weekend’s ride posts.
