As last week was a bit of a wash out, this weeks routes might seem familiar!
So firework weekend is upon us! I’m sure our routes with dazzle you as you rocket along the Buckinghamshire Countryside on your winter (Catherine) Wheels.

Please bear in mind the chance of adverse conditions through the winter months will mean we will need to be agile with rides, adapting to the safest options, later starts, chunkier tires, etc. This Sunday is set to be dry and mild, so hopefully a better prospect than last weekend. Our Halloween Rides are a real treat. No mater witch route you pick, you will be spellbound on a magical Buckinghamshire adventure, with the odd evil hill. Pumpkin up your tyres and ghost along to the church in Ivinghoe at your expected start time. The 9am route may have the odd trick up it’s sleeve, including I believe the Velos first ever assent of the 17% pond park road in Chesham. Remember the clocks change, so don’t be the prince of darkness and get up at the right time! Routes provided by the two Daves, alas neither of us can be out this Sunday, we will miss the silver bullet so if you look in a mirror and say our name 5 times you might beat us on a few segments. That will really be a stake through the heart.

As it’s now dark in the evenings you may, time permitting, enjoy a midweek morning ride. Our regular Thursday rides will go out from Ivinghoe and will involve a coffee stop along the way, or towards the end. This week the ride begins at Ivinghoe Church at 9.30am and heads over to North Marston. Coffee will be taken at Meads Farm shop on the way home. It’s 35 miles with some steady climbs along the way

Providing you have made it back from riding the national championships in Lincolnshire, we welcome you to three route options. 50 miles at 9am, 37 miles at 10am or 23 miles at 10.30am. Our rides are best ridden on road bikes in groups of around six riders. Pace varies depending of course and participants but you can bet it’s somewhere between 15mph and 17mph.

Three routes to chose from this Sunday, the 9am takes a trip over to Cranfield for a 54 mile rolling ride. The 10am is 38 miles heading to Brickhill and back via Stewkley, the 10.30 is a circular outing of mostly flat apart from the climb to Ringshall to test the legs. Starting from the roundabout in Pitstone at 5.30pm We will ride for an hour. Darkness falls between 6.30pm and 7pm so lights to ensure you can be seen by other road users will be beneficial.
