Dave Bembridge will be heading out with others for a 40 mile ride tomorrow (Tuesday 14th) at 1000 from Pitstone Roundabout. ALL welcome as he promises there is a coffee and cake stop halfway round 🙂
Don’t try this at home kids!!!
So another year is underway and many of us face a low calorie and alcohol free January, but that means we also need to find ourselves a new cycling challenge or two! Will it be a wine tasting cycling marathon in Italy, a relay of Alps climbs or your first century ride?whatever it may be we can just say “Courage!”.
However in our search for new ideas we came across this one…
Ingredients:
- 1 x DHB blue bib shorts (XL!)
- 2 x Sparkly red nipple tassels
- 3 x sharp machetes (for juggling)
- 1 x pair of oversized clown shoes
- 1 oversized unicycle
- one large amount of bravery/stupidity!
Yes it takes all kinds!!!!!
So on to the Sunday rides, thanks to Andy Beezer for a very interesting and in places challenging ride circumnavigating Aylesbury last week and yet again thanks to Dave Bembridge for sending in the following routes for tomorrow.
‘Mount the Bison’ a 29 mile route taking in Bison Hill for those not wishing to tackle Bison Hill here is a detoured route of 20 miles cutting out Bison Hill and some other climbing
As always please feel free to send in your ideas for routes or at least give us an idea of where you would like to ride to next week!
Rain Rain Go Away………………………please!
Hail, Rain, Floods so what’s next? Well if the BBC online weather forecast is anything to go by glorious SUNSHINE tomorrow morning………………..for 1 hour 😉 but, again at this stage, no rain until 1300!
Tomorrow, as usual, we meet at the Rose and Crown from 0945 for a 1000 start
35 miles route around Aylesbury (courtesy of Andy Beezer), Peter Thompson has kindly offered to lead anyone who wants to do this route at an average speed of 13mph, cheers Pete
or for those wanting a little bit less
19 miles route (with thanks again to Dave Bembridge), although at this stage we are not clear that there is a leader for this route….any offers?
So that was that!
After a tremendous break it’s time for those of us that haven’t been out on our bikes to get out again!!
Tomorrow The Cog Cafe in Tring is hosting a mini sportive with a 25 and 50 mile route available starting from there at 0930. We are proposing to support this local cafe and join their ride of your choice meeting at the Rose and Crown at 0830.
If this is too early for you or indeed you would rather save your ‘hard earned’ here is a 27 mile ride to enjoy meeting outside the Rose and Crown from 0945 tomorrow morning for a 1000 start
So have you all been good…..??
So another year is nearly over and what will he be bringing you all? New bikes a plenty I hear you say!

Too much Turkey and pudding? Need some fresh air? Family at war? Whatever the reason why not join us on Boxing Day for a leisurely walk to Ashridge for coffee and Sloe Gin (bring your best vintage for sampling!). We aim to leave the Rose and Crown at 1000 and return there for around 1300. All welcome, dogs too!

As the nights and weather draw in our thoughts move towards our Turbo Trainers. We are looking at planning an evening or 2 of Turbo Thrills in the Ivinghoe/Pitstone/Slapton area. All you need is a bike and a Turbo Trainer! To gauge interest please could you add a comment to this post indicating your preference of day of the week.
