Be Brave….

“Be brave. Take risks.  Nothing can substitute experience”.

Or at least that’s what Brazilian lyricist Paulo Coelho says – although we’ve not seen him on the Tea Ride – YET!!

So…. the forecast ‘aint lookin’ too great for tomorrow… Sally might be out but Elke is definitely under the weather 🙁

If you fancy a pootle out in what looks like the damp then the Rose & Crown at 10am is the place to be.  Would suggest if it’s really awful then a scoot around the block and back to Hayley’s at Ivinghoe ….?  If it’s just rather damp then how about a stop in Tring?  The Cog..? Dunsley Farm Shop (next-door to the brewery)…? Or maybe, Bluebells at Marsworth ..?  This week, it’s definitely up to the brave and bold!

Normal service will be resumed next week!

Turkey and all the trimmings

Feeling stuffed time to get out on your bike!

SUNDAY RIDES

DCC Charity Ride

Many have mentioned the DCC charity ride tomorrow and it is proposed that we meet at the Rose and Crown at 0900 for a steady ride over to Tilsworth. Details of the ride can be found here

Other Rides

For those looking for a more traditional start time of 1000 here are 2 to consider, as always please remember to download the route onto your gadget thingys or bring a paper copy!

34 (rolling) miles

24 (Rolling!) miles

Several people have commented on making Vinghoe Velos a membership club and this is a serious consideration, likely membership would be £20-£30 per year.  As has been mentioned this would require a number of people to volunteer to take up official committee posts, including: Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Ride Coordinator, Ride Leaders, Kit person, Social Secretary……………..what is everyone’s thoughts on this?  Could 2015 be the year, the 5th Anniversary year, that the iVinghoe Velos becomes affiliated??  Maybe one for discussion on the Rear Hub Facebook page?

From all at Velos Towers a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR

Velos Rides for Sunday 21st December 2014

First up, many thanks to Sally and Andrew for organising a fantastic Christmas Curry night at the Haldi on Friday evening. The food, drink and chatter was of a very high standard.

So on to the rides for this Sunday. After the tough hilly stuff last week, we have a much flatter selection of routes to offer you, created by the Routemaster himself, Mr Dave Bembridge. As is common with his routes now, he plans them so that the short and long ones cross over a various points.

10am start, 33 mile longer route

10am start 24 mile shorter route

We here at Velo Towers would like to wish everyone who has ridden with us this year a very Merry Christmas and a most prosperous 2015.

Time for Tea & Tinsel!

MaryHang onto your hangovers….. deck the bike in tinsel and baubles … come and join us for the Tea & Tinsel ride.  A sedate whizz around the countryside, blowing out the cobwebs, refreshing and reviving the bits that other bike rides can’t reach …

Head on up to the Rose & Crown for a 10am departure.

“So here it is Merry Christmas…………………”

Rides

There are three distances to choose from this week, all departing from the Rose and Crown  at 10am.

33 mile loop

25 mile loop

19 mile loop

They have all been plotted by Mr Dave “Tour de Britain” Bembridge who has cleverly engineered them such that each group will pass one of the others at some point.

As always, please bring a copy of the route with you (or memorise it if you have those sort of skills).

Bossard Wheelers Training Camp

Last week we were joined on our Sunday ride by two of the Boassard Wheelers, Richard and Trevor. They have kindly extended an invitation to one of their training camps to any of the Ivinghoe Velos who might be interested. Here is the message from Richard –

A few members of our club are going to Majorca next March for a short training camp and I was wondering if you or any of the Ivinghoe Velos would be interested in joining us. Work commitments mean that we are going out on Monday 2nd and we’re coming back on Sunday 8th March. We will be staying at the very popular Club Pollentia, which is situated between Alcudia and Port de Pollenca. Its a great location for exploring the island and the emphasis will be on longish steady rides, at a pace to suit the slowest rider. We usually venture into the hills on a couple of rides, weather permitting! We are flying from Stansted and those that are going have already booked. Booking the hotel is very straight forward using their website. I will book the coach transfer when I have a definite number of people travelling.

If you are interested, please use the contact us form on our site and we will pass your email address over to Richard.

Saturday 10 am Tea Ride

The weather tomorrow looks lovely, but I’m not out cycling. I will come and see the ride off- meet at 10 am outside the Rose and Crown for what will hopefully be a sunny ride.
