New Kit Order and Other Things …

The Tea Ride last Saturday

It’s all about being a Tea-m

We would like to say a big thank you to all the traffic stoppers & directors, sun blockers, ambulance callers, etc etc for their help on Saturday.
Also huge thanks to the car drivers at the scene for their concise reports & video evidence that clear the Velos of any responsibility for the incident.

Tuesday Ride

It is a bit late in the day but just a reminder that we have a Tuesday ride leaving from Pitstone Roundabout at 6:30pm. The route will be made up when we gather.

New Kit Order

Due to popular demand we have opened another Club Kit Order which has a closing date of the 16th June.

HOW TO ORDER

If you have ordered kit before:
Please use your email address and the password you created last time.

If it is your first order:
Navigate your browser to https://eucustom.champ-sys.com/Login/en-GB/Default.aspx
In the right hand panel, titled “CS DIRECT MEMBER LOGIN” enter in the following details :
user name / email : ivinghoe
password : clubkit2015
This is the only time you will need to use those login details. The system will ask you to register using your own email address and password. These personal details are what you can use the next time you come back to the site.
Once registered, you should be presented with a “My Account” page that lists our “Ivinghoe Velos Store” and an “Order Now” link. You can then choose and pay for the kit items you would like to order. Once manufactured, all of the clothing will be sent as one delivery to me (Sally) and I will arrange distribution. This should be about 6 weeks after the order closes.

To compare different items of clothing, follow this link:
http://champ-sys.co.uk/cycling/
Go to the top left hand drop down menu ‘Cycling collection’. The basic shirt is the CS TECH Short Sleeve Jersey priced £37, but be aware that VAT and postage are not included. You will be able to see the full price of your order before you pay.

READ CAREFULLY: There are a wide range of items available. Please read the descriptions of each item type carefully to ensure that you order the correct bit of kit. The kit is made to order and CANNOT be returned due to errors in ordering.

Velos Rides for Sunday 7th June 2015

chiltern100-2015wChiltern 100

Congratulations to our members who completed the Chiltern 100 last weekend. It is known as the toughest sportive close to the capital and it certainly lived up to that reputation. The weather was awful and the hills relentless but the Ivinghoe Velos who entered it put in a truly epic amount of effort to finish it.

Well done to David, Mark,  Martin, Jeremy, James, John, Peter and both of the Richards.

A word of caution

One of our intrepid tea riders was knocked off her bike today (Saturday) … by another cyclist (not one of ours though).  He decided to overtake her on a bend and panicked when he was presented with an on coming car. Thankfully it looks like our injured team mate is bruised but not broken and after hospital treatment is recovering back at home.
Hopefully the chap who made the daft manoeuvre has learnt a lesson that we all need reminding of – we need to take the same precautions when we are cycling as we want from cars: – don’t overtake unless you are 100% certain of getting past and bear in mind something may appear in front of you travelling the opposite way.

We wish our injured velo a speedy recovery.

Sunday Rides

A number of the velos are planning on riding the Tour de Vale ride and are going to ride to the start. If you are already signed up or plan to register on the day, you can join the other velos departing from Pitstone Roundabout at 8:30am.

For those not partaking, we have two rides to choose from on Sunday.

10am start, 32 mile route via Hartwell.

10am start, 19 mile route via Totternhoe.

Next Sunday

A number of velos have entered the Evoke sportive which takes place next Sunday. It starts in Gaddesden so is another good candidate for riding over there as a group. It includes the final stage of the Womens Tour of Britain route that they will ride on the 21st of June and is graded level 2 – so it shouldn’t be a real toughie. If you do fancy it and want some company for the cycle to the start, please head on over to the Ivinghoe Velos Rear Hub Facebook group to arrange a start time that suits you best.

Earwig-O Earwig-O Earwig-O…

Oh! Apparently they’re not playing tomorrow and I’ve got it completely wrong …. it’s Arsenal v Aston Villa (for those that are interested)…

For those interested in a Major Sports Event, the Tea Ride will be taking place as usual at 10am from the Rose & Crown – but with a new tea stop this week.  Pretty much flat there and back (for those where altitude is paramount over refreshment).

No promises on calibre… but that’s the Tea Ride all over isn’t it ?!

Leaving on time.

Ish…..

Velos Rides for Sunday 24th May 2015

Return of the Benson Finger

This week sees us planning an early start for the very popular Benson Finger route. It is a bit lumpy for the first half and very flat for the return leg. We will be deploying our “No one gets left behind” policy for this ride so please do join us even if you have some doubts about your hill climbing ability – we will regroup at the top of every climb. There will be a shop stop half way round to stock up on fluids and snacks.

8am start, The Benson Finger

10am start, 34 miles to Stewkley and back

10am start, 18 miles to Chloesbury and back

We depart at the indicated time from the Rose and Crown in Ivinghoe. Please bring a copy of your chosen route with you. If you haven’t ridden with us before then feel free to join us – there aren’t any fees to pay of forms to fill in – just turn up and have fun riding your bike !

The Big Warm Up

Eurovision 2015So once again, the Tea Ride will form the greatest warm up for the year’s biggest international event.

We will be traversing the countryside in search of perfect performance.  (Except we’re all perfect on the Tea Ride).  If you have a preference on tea room, please bring your thoughts with you and the judging panel will deliberate.

No promises on where the “Nil Points” are going to go to but we can promise that the voting will be as biased as you can expect from the Eurovision finals.

Leaving the Rose & Crown at 10am.  We do however promise to go as fast as the slowest rider and stop for tea and cake.

Velos Rides for Sunday 17th May 2015

Club Kit

The kit we ordered a few weeks ago is in and looking lovely. If you ordered something and haven’t picked it up yet, get in touch with Elke or John via either Facebook or using the Contact Form on the website. They will let you know where you can collect your new outfit from.
Anyone who missed the original window of opportunity to order, or, who wants to order more gear watch this space. We will be opening up another order slot soon.

Sunday Rides

Dave “Big Ring” Howe has planned a fantastic new route for the early start ride. He is suggesting a sensible rather than blistering pace to encourage everyone to get round as a single group.

9am start, 64 mile trip to Homer Green and Croxley Green

10am start, 34 miles to Woburn

10am start, 25 flat miles to Stoke Mandeville

Tuesday

We will have another ride out this Tuesday evening, starting from Pitstone Roundabout at 6:30pm. All abilities welcome as we form “like minded” groups based on who turns up.

Birthday Cake & Club Kit

Lots of good news this week – we have another birthday to celebrate plus the new club kit has arrived!

So tomorrow’s ride will take us on a little jaunt here and about to Bluebells tea room where we have reserved bike & cake space for Corriene’s birthday.  Leaving the Rose & Crown at 10am as usual.

For those who have ordered club kit, please contact Hegs or Elke to arrange collection/delivery today or over the weekend.  Head on over to the Ivinghoe Velos Rear Hub for more info/extra contact details.

10am start, 35 lumpy miles to Markyate and back.

Tuesday
