Velos Rides for Sunday 5th July 2015

Ha ha!! so… whilst the regular “in charge” team are busy cycling through the night on the Dunwich Dynamo… (rather envious!!)… here’s the routes for this Sunday……

9am start…. Lumpy… Cranfield Reverse route .. 53 miles

10am start… Rolling… pretty, off the beaten track a bit, Hollingdon, Hoggeston… 39 miles

10am start… Flat… Eggington serpentine route… 28 miles

Enjoy the sunshine!

Please take a copy of the route in your chosen format. Meet at the Rose & Crown in plenty of time for “take off”…

It ain’t broke, and we don’t need to fix it … but …

… over the next couple of weeks, we thought we’d try something a little different!

Saturday Tea Ride

However, we are becoming a bigger group and, as we need to split into 2 groups in the interests of road safety, we thought we would try a slightly different approach.  “Officially-like”….

So, starting tomorrow (assuming there are a number of people out!), there will be 2 groups, a “Regular” group (averaging 10mph, sticking together) and a “Longer Stronger” group.  This second group will follow the same Tea Ride stick together approach, will average 11-13mph, depending on the group members, and follow a slightly different, probably longer route.

The idea is that both groups will meet at the same Tea Stop, around the same time  and reconvene at the pub afterwards, with the option of changing groups at the Tea Stop should you wish.

Each group will have a nominated leader, who should not be overtaken.

“As fast as the slowest rider” forever will stand.  Departing the Rose & Crown, Saturdays, at 10am.

The Tea Ride Goes Off Piste (Monday Evenings)

Starting Monday 6th July, Elke will be leading out a Roads & Tracks / Off-Road for Beginners ride.  The idea being an intro to paths and tracks, doing something a bit different, building a bit of confidence and seeing the countryside from different tracks.

Hybrids, Mountain bikes, tourers, BMXs, etc all welcome – road bikes not recommended!

Meet at Pitstone roundabout for a 7pm departure.

Running to Paradise

As I came over Windy Gap
They threw a halfpenny into my cap.
For I am running to paradise;
And all that I need do is to wish
And somebody puts his hand in the dish
To throw me a bit of salted fish:
And there the king is but as the beggar.

Tomorrow would have been (or is?) WB Yeats 150th birthday.  So, in true Tea Ride style, we shall be on a birthday excursion.  Any preference as to where?  Where’s the Tea Ride’s idea of paradise then?

With our wits about us, listening ears switched on and keeping an eye out over our shoulder for “things” coming up behind us….. we leave the  Rose and Crown at 10am and we are PEDALLING TO PARADISE.

Which basically means “Tea & Cake”.

Earwig-O Earwig-O Earwig-O…

Oh! Apparently they’re not playing tomorrow and I’ve got it completely wrong …. it’s Arsenal v Aston Villa (for those that are interested)…

For those interested in a Major Sports Event, the Tea Ride will be taking place as usual at 10am from the Rose & Crown – but with a new tea stop this week.  Pretty much flat there and back (for those where altitude is paramount over refreshment).

No promises on calibre… but that’s the Tea Ride all over isn’t it ?!

Leaving on time.

Ish…..

The Big Warm Up

Eurovision 2015So once again, the Tea Ride will form the greatest warm up for the year’s biggest international event.

We will be traversing the countryside in search of perfect performance.  (Except we’re all perfect on the Tea Ride).  If you have a preference on tea room, please bring your thoughts with you and the judging panel will deliberate.

No promises on where the “Nil Points” are going to go to but we can promise that the voting will be as biased as you can expect from the Eurovision finals.

Leaving the Rose & Crown at 10am.  We do however promise to go as fast as the slowest rider and stop for tea and cake.

Birthday Cake & Club Kit

Lots of good news this week – we have another birthday to celebrate plus the new club kit has arrived!

So tomorrow’s ride will take us on a little jaunt here and about to Bluebells tea room where we have reserved bike & cake space for Corriene’s birthday.  Leaving the Rose & Crown at 10am as usual.

For those who have ordered club kit, please contact Hegs or Elke to arrange collection/delivery today or over the weekend.  Head on over to the Ivinghoe Velos Rear Hub for more info/extra contact details.

The Cat’s Away – AGAIN!!!!!

So….. given that it’s last footie game of the season, I’m in charge of the children – which means Sarah’s in charge.. !!

The good news however, is that tomorrow’s ride will be flat… the venue depends on numbers, but it’s all in hand – so DON’T PANIC!!!!

The Tea Ride…. Keep Calm and Carry on Cycling (whatever the weather, you guys in the Peaks!).

Meet at the Rose & Crown, Ivinghoe, from 9.50am for a 10am departure.

Come dressed to impress and bring tea/cake/beer tokens …..

Spring is sprung….

….. the grass is ris
I wonders where the cyclists is.
They say the cyclists is having tea
Ain’t that absurd?
No, not at all – why don’t you come and see!

Tomorrow’s adventures see us leaving the Rose and Crown, Ivinghoe at 10am for a circular ride, arriving at CuriosiTea around 11.15/30, where the prize for the best Easter Bonnet / Bike will be awarded.

The Tea Ride.  Every Saturday at 10am. Maintaining the essentials and standards of social cycling.

G.O.A.T.

G.O.A.T.A bit of Eminem this week I think!

I’m a goat
and for those of y’all who don’t know what a goat is
it means the greatest of all time
and I consider myself one of those
so thank you very much, here it goes!

Well, it’s not just me that’s a goat… it’s all my fellow tea riders too.
Whatever the weather, we’re out there in search of tea and cake, in places both familiar and new.

And tomorrow is no exception.  We’re going to Stoke our inner furnaces and pedal our way over to the Centrum Capra.  I can’t promise it will be the G.O.A.T. – but we love an adventure!

See you at the Rose & Crown, Ivinghoe, ready to roll at 10am.
