Please me, Teas(e) me, Breeze me!

Ivinghoe is definitely THE place to be this Saturday morning!

The all important 10am congregation at the Rose & Crown for the ever-pleasing Tea Ride will take place as usual.  But this week we are joined by Jayne and the Breeze ride too who will be heading Aldbury-wards for a nice rolling, 15 mile route, around Tring, Wilstone and swooshing back through Long Marston.

The Tea Ride.  The bit of cycling that really should be in the Winter Olympics ‘cos it takes more than a bit of wet & snow to keep us indoors….

Welcome Back!

They’ve been to see the wizard, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
We hear they are back, back in a whiz, for the best reason there was
If ever, oh ever a reason there was, the Tea Ride is it because
Because, because, because, because, because
Because of the wonderful things it does!
They’re back from seeing the wizard, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz…

This weekend we welcome back our friends from their “visit” Down Under – looking forward to them re-joining us on the wonderful Tea Ride again. (No pressure there then!)

In case you’ve forgotten… Saturdays, 10am, The Rose & Crown, Ivinghoe.

Whatever the weather!

It’s All About …. Castlemead Dave

It’s Dave’s birthday, and he’ll ride where he wants to
Ride where he wants to, ride where he wants to
You can come too – we’d like to see you

Nobody knows where the tea ride will go
We always leave at the same time
Why don’t you all come along?
We’ll ride if it’s wet or it’s fine!

It’s Dave’s birthday, and he’ll ride where he wants to
Ride where he wants to, ride where he wants to
You can come too – it’s a fun thing to do

Chat with our friends, keep pedalling a- while
We will not leave you behind
When we reach our birthday tea stop
We’ve got a reason to smile

It’s Dave’s birthday, and he’ll ride where he wants to
Ride where he wants to, ride where he wants to
You can come too – any bike will do

The Vinghoe Velos just walked through that door
Like a court with their King
Oh what a birthday surprise
Dave thinks they’re all going to sing!

It’s Dave’s birthday, and he’ll ride where he wants to
Ride where he wants to, ride where he wants to
You can come too – any bike will do….

So, Dave will ride where he wants to – and he’s even given us a route in advance!
Leaving the Rose & Crown at 10am, come and join the birthday banter!

(Lesley Gore reached number 1 in the charts with “It’s my Party” in 1963)

Rollin’….

Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’
Tea-ride!

Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them cycles rollin’
Tea-ride!
Rain and wind and weather
Hell-bent for leather
Glad that my friends are by my side.
All the things you’re missin’,
Good vittles, cake, and icin’,
They are all happenin’ on this ride.

Move ’em on, head ’em up,
Head ’em up, move ’em out,
Move ’em on, head ’em out Tea-ride!
Set ’em out, ride ’em in
Ride ’em in, let ’em out,
Cut ’em out, ride ’em in Tea-ride.

Keep movin’, movin’, movin’,
Though others’re disapprovin’,
Keep them cycles movin’ Tea-ride!
Don’t try to understand ’em,
Just push and pedal and steer ’em,
Soon we’ll be living high and wide.
Boy my heart’s calculatin’
My tea cake will be waitin’, be waiting at the end of my ride.

Tea-ride!
Tea-ride!

The weekly round-up, Tea-ride style.
Leavin’ the homestead (Rose & Crown to you newbies) on Saturdays at 10am.

HAILSTORM

All welcome, Any ability

I‘ll be there – will you?

Looking out for you… looking after you….

See you there

The Rose & Crown

On Saturdays

Regardless of the weather

Meet us there at 10am

On the Fourth Day of Christmas, the Tea Ride called to me….

4CallingBirdsBy the time you read this, you should already have received your 3 French Hens, 2 Turtle Doves & a Partridge, in or out of it’s tree.  If you haven’t, then please contact your local courier office, not me.  Or maybe you really haven’t been good enough this year……

Four Calling Birds will be summoning you to the last Tea Ride of 2013.

If you haven’t been out on 2 wheels in 2013, it’s never too late to start – or just start early on that New Year’s Resolution.

The Tea Ride… making exercise fun, addling your brain with local & international trivia and giving you a great excuse to eat cake.  Like you needed one.

The Tinsel Ride

Bike bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, cycles glistening
A beautiful sight,
We’re happy tonight.
Pedalling in our winter wonderland.

Gone away is the motor car,
Here to stay, bikes from afar
Our bells sing a song,
As we go along,
Cycling in our winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can see the Windmill,
We’ll cycle by, up and then downhill
We’ll say: Are you with us?
You’ll say: Yes man!
Cos you just can’t do this
When you’re in town.

Later on, we’ll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
Back in the pub,
Amongst the gentle hub-bub,
Of cycling in our winter wonderland.

When it snows, ain’t it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We’ll pedal and play, the Vinghoe Velos way,
Cycling in a winter wonderland.

Just getting you into the mood for The Tinsel Ride – this Saturday, leaving the Rose & Crown at 10am.  Christmas hats, decorated bikes, tinsel, baubles – the choice is yours!

Oh.. and bring your singing voices too – you never know where the Tea Ride will take you…..

Dressing for the Occasion

There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing.

So no excuses.  Pudsey Pyjamas, Onesies, Waterproofs, Wellies – just wrap up and get out on your bike, trike, tandem, recumbent, unicyle…..  All steeds & handlers are welcome on the Tea Ride!

And on the subject of clothing…  We have some secondhand, official Velos cycling shirts for sale – proceeds to Children in Need … a small (ladies), a medium (mens) and a 4XL (ladies – 18/20).  Not sure how much difference there is in the cut of them so step up, give us a shout and give ’em a try on! (Use the Contact Us form on the website to get in touch please)

The Rose & Crown, Saturdays, 10am.  Be there, or be stuck inside, knowing you could be doing something far more exciting……
