The Queen of Teas is in Charge!

So the Cat is still away in the mountainous Mallorcan regions… and the understudy is entertaining elsewhere… which puts Mary, Queen of Teas, firmly in the throne of control for this weekend’s Tea Ride.

Leaving the Rose and Crown at 10am, this week your travels will take you to the exotics of Cheddington, Long Marston, Puttenham and onto Mead Farm Shop for refreshments.

As always, everyone is welcome – all abilities and bikes, regardless of age or experience, are welcomed.  Going as fast as the slowest rider, the group sticks together throughout.

New to cycling or not ridden for a while?  The Tea Ride is where it’s at!

SERIOUSLY??!!!!

ANOTHER Birthday?!  Well the Tea Ride is All About The Cake… ’bout the Cake…

Yeah it’s pretty clear, We ain’t no size twos
But we can pedal it, pedal like we’re supposed to do
‘Cause we got that boom boom that all the boys chase
All the right junk in all the right places
We see the magazines working that Photoshop**
We know that shit ain’t real
Come on now, make it stop
If you got beauty beauty just raise ’em up
‘Cause every inch of you is perfect
From the bottom to the top
Yeah, my cyclin’ momma told me don’t worry about your size
She says, they all like a little more (bike) frame to hold at night
You know we won’t be no stick-figure, racing triathlon dolls,
So, if that’s what’s you’re into
Then go ahead and move along….

The Tea Ride … As fast as the slowest rider – and PROUD OF IT!  Whoever and Whatever Wheels You Ride……

This weekend sees Miss W’s birthday…. slightly longer pre-tea ride – Chedd, Long Marston. Aston Abbotts, Cublington and back to The Stag at Mentmore for Birthday Cake 11.15/11.30am.  If you’re not able to ride and plan on joining us there, please let us know to expect you!

As ever…. leaving the Rose & Crown, Ivinghoe at 10am.

** It is hereby acknowledged that cycling magazines do encourage the average and non professional rider to “get stuck in and give it a go”.  Therefore, no offence towards cycling magazine titles  is intended……

A bit of the white stuff …

The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow,
And what will the poor cyclist do then, poor thing?Bertie Bassett's Birthday Bash
He’ll jump on his bike and keep himself warm ….
and hunt out tea and cake of course!

As usual, 10am at the Rose and Crown, Ivinghoe.  (We recommend an extra pair of socks or two and something to keep your ears warm!)

If there’s a covering of snow, we have a lovely route taking in some easy tracks and very little time on the roads.  We will however, see what the morning has in store for us!

(And if it’s your birthday coming up – let us know and we will give you the Tea Ride Birthday Treatment!)

Bertie Bassett’s Birthday Bike Bash

It’s that time of year again – Our  beloved Bertie Bassett (founder of the SSSTSR – Slightly Slower Stick Together Sunday Ride) a.k.a. Mr Barratt, is having another birthday.

At his request, we are heading off to Bluebells in Marsworth for coffee, cake and candles.

As ever, 10am departure from the Rose & Crown.  Wrap up warm – it’s gonna be chilly!!

‘Tis the Season…

for wrapping up warm…

for drinking tea & eating cake….

And celebrating birthdays!

This Saturday it’s the celebration of Lady Jenny of Ivinghoe who has chosen Wing Church as the Destination of the Day.  For those not wanting to brave the cold on two wheels and would like to join us there, we expect to arrive shortly after 11am.   Tea, cake and quick sprint back to the pub.

As ever, meet at the Rose and Crown for a 10am departure.

It’s all about Mary….

Hopefully the weather is going to sort itself out and be on our side tomorrow (although it’s definitely looking somewhat dodgy!). This weekend it’s all about the Queen of Tea, Mary.

In honour of Her Ladyship’s Big Day, we have a special outing planned.

For those willing to brave, on two wheels, what currently looks like howling gales, the ride will depart the Rose & Crown at 10am as usual. Traversing our beautiful countryside for approximately an hour, with arrival at The Stag in Mentmore expected around 11am, tea and cakes have been arranged.

Those either, not so brave, or feeling under the weather and encouraged to venture out on four wheels and meet the valiant ones at The Stag for birthday refreshments from 11am.

It takes more than a bit of “Wet ‘n’ Windy” to stop tea and cake.

Be Brave….

“Be brave. Take risks.  Nothing can substitute experience”.

Or at least that’s what Brazilian lyricist Paulo Coelho says – although we’ve not seen him on the Tea Ride – YET!!

So…. the forecast ‘aint lookin’ too great for tomorrow… Sally might be out but Elke is definitely under the weather 🙁

If you fancy a pootle out in what looks like the damp then the Rose & Crown at 10am is the place to be.  Would suggest if it’s really awful then a scoot around the block and back to Hayley’s at Ivinghoe ….?  If it’s just rather damp then how about a stop in Tring?  The Cog..? Dunsley Farm Shop (next-door to the brewery)…? Or maybe, Bluebells at Marsworth ..?  This week, it’s definitely up to the brave and bold!

Normal service will be resumed next week!

Time for Tea & Tinsel!

MaryHang onto your hangovers….. deck the bike in tinsel and baubles … come and join us for the Tea & Tinsel ride.  A sedate whizz around the countryside, blowing out the cobwebs, refreshing and reviving the bits that other bike rides can’t reach …

Head on up to the Rose & Crown for a 10am departure.

Tomorrow’s Ride is in Honour of our Belgian Members…

-Flag_of_Belgium.svgFor 15 Nov is King’s Feast in Belgium – and if the Tea Ride is about anything other than social cycling,  it’s feasting – tea, cake and partying basically!

So, 10am departure from the Rose & Crown for a magical mystery tour (yes, I do know where we are going really..)   Fortunately the forecast no longer looks quite like canoe and waders weather but if the fancy takes you – who are we to stop you !

It all happens on the Tea Ride, you know!
